Summit Project

This week presented us with a unique challenge as we embarked on a project from the Against the Block series. I opted for Project 4, primarily because, much like many of you, I find that hands-on experience is the most effective way for me to learn. While YouTube tutorials and online resources are helpful for some, they don't quite align with my learning style. I thrive when I'm actively engaged in the process, getting my hands dirty, so to speak, and really immersing myself in the task at hand. This approach helps me internalize the concepts more deeply.

The decision to undertake Project 4 was not arbitrary; it was a strategic choice influenced by my personal and professional development goals. This project wasn't just a routine exercise; it was a carefully selected endeavor that promised to hone specific skills that I identified as crucial for my growth. By engaging in this project, I anticipated an opportunity to strengthen areas where I felt I needed more competence, thereby pushing the boundaries of my comfort zone and expanding my skillset in a meaningful way. The project incorporated the following skills:
  • Managing built-in libraries
  • Defining custom art
  • Understanding and creating symbols
  • Transforming symbols
  • Replacing symbols
  • Creating a clipping mask
In summary, this week's project from Against the Block was more than just an assignment; it was a pivotal step in my learning journey. Choosing Project 4 was a testament to my belief in experiential learning and a commitment to personal and professional development, emphasizing the need to actively engage in practical tasks to truly grasp and master new skills.
